Is Kate Middleton Pregnant At Last?

'People' magazine asks the question

Last November, Us Weekly magazine made the public claim that Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Prince William, was pregnant with her first child. It turns out that Us Weekly was entirely wrong in their reporting. Today, People magazine asks the question, Is She Pregnant? in this week?s feature coverstory on the royal couple. As the 1 year wedding anniversary of Wills and Kate approaches, it seems that the focus will soon become whether or not Kate is pregnant ? a focus that is now being splashed on magazine covers.

Their friends are having kids. They?re getting ready to start making family-friendly renovations to their home at Kensington Palace. And their first anniversary is fast approaching on April 29. Yes, say royal insiders, Prince William and the Kate have babies on the brain. From their decision to quietly ?shelf? a hoped-for trip to Africa to the Palace?s recent sensitivity to speculation on the subject, veteran royal watchers say the couple is poised to start a family sooner rather than later. In particular, watching their friends become parents ?does help? boost William and Kate?s decision to follow suit, a family insider tells PEOPLE in this week?s cover story. Although they are unlikely to announce a pregnancy before the Queen?s Diamond Jubilee celebration this summer, like any couple, ?they will let nature and life take its course,? adds a royal source.

I have no doubt that Wills and Kate are planning to have a family together. My guess is that they will have at least 3 children (two boys and a girl). BUT, I don?t think they?re necessarily in any rush. With Queen Elizabeth, II?s Diamond Jubilee celebration just weeks away, it doesn?t make sense for the royal family to announce Kate?s pregnancy IF she is pregs. Again, my guess is that she is not pregnant yet ? but may try to become pregnant by the end of this year or sometime next year. The timing has to be perfect ? let Queen Elizabeth celebrate her jubilee ? then bust out news of a royal baby on the way. Perfecto! In my perfect scenario, I?d love for Wills and Kate to have a daughter first ? then twin boys. Baby Girl Cambridge would then be, hopefully, first in line for royal succession ? breaking with ancient tradition. BUT ? all of that is wishful thinking ? and still a ways down the line. Still, with Will and Kate?s first wedding anniversary on the horizon, I guess the time is right to start speculating ? and hoping ;)
