Her one true love.
Her destiny.
In the darkness of the night she swept her arm across the glass coffee table that sat in between a sea of mess. Everything came crashing off, but instead of the usual bang that indicated broken glass or the thump of things, the noise was dulled by the numerous papers that covered the ground. She did the same to the sofa, clearing a space in between the sea of bottles just enough so that her small frame could take a seat.
And out on the table appeared her one true love. Her destiny in a powered form. A twisted grin appeared on her thin pale lips as her hands shook in excitement shifted the power until it was in a straight line. She took a half cut straw and stared at her love, placed the straw against the start of the line, placed her nostril at the other end and snorted.
Within moments the power started to work its magic. Her blood pumped, her pulse beat and she could hear the music pounding in her ears as she stood up. She was ready to party. Standing up, she swayed for a moment, a sick grin reappearing on her face as her love coursed over her body. It was time to have fun.
She stole a key from the cabinet by the door. Charlie Brown wouldn't mind if she took his car for a drive. It wasn't far. She moved to her bedroom and good out of her crappy, dirt ridden clothes. It was time to dress in something better. She was about to go dancing with the love of her life. She opened the wooden door of her cabinet and took out a white strapless wedding dress. The only reason she hung onto it was because it linked her to the other love of her life.
The love that had being her downfall.
The love that had failed her.
At least with her new found love she knew that it wouldn't leave her. No. They had an understanding together. They couldn't live without each other. The silk slipped onto her body like a glove still after all these months. It was made for her. Now, she could marry her new love. She knew she'd kept it for a reason. It was perfect.
Down the stairs she went to the beat of the music that played in her ears. Her dress flowed in the night as she entered the street. Her light green eyes stared at the night sky, her ruby red hair flew in the wind. She held out her arms spinning around on her bare feet as she moved down the street until she got to Charlie's car. She took her seat and stuck the key into the engine and turned to the seat next to her.
"Don't worry Charlie, tonight me and the love of my life are getting married. Down to the docks where the lost boys meet." She smiled.
The car started and she left. She drove all the way to the docks before parking the car and getting herself out. The car door slammed behind her, and the boys heads turned. Here was where the lost boys met. The boys that also had the love of their life waiting for them.
"What you doing today, Red?" One of the boys asked.
"Didn't yer hear? I'm getting married!"
The boy grinned, offering her some stuff. "This'll set you free tonight, have fun."
With that, she took off down the docks. Spinning, twirling, dancing. Her heart was pounding. Her blood was flowing. Her pulse was beating. The black night of the sky changed to different colours. Yellow. Blue. Red. Green. A kaleidoscope of colours mixing in the night sky as she moved. Her fingers raised into the air touching them. The sea crashed against the docks, the rhythmic music beat in the background.
The party had started.
The yellows and reds mixed, creating a person standing in front of her. She smiled as the figure held out its hand and she recognised it instantly. Charlie Brown. She took her hand in his and nodded. This was her night. And there on the docks they danced to the music, to the lights, to the waves. She closed her eyes, noting how perfect everything was.
The danced for hours at the dock. How long? Who knows. It was perfection. But when she opened her eyes all that appeared was her scarecrow dreams. It smashed her heart to smithereens. She let go of Charlie Brown and turned and ran. Her heart still pounded, her blood still flowed, her pulse still beat. The music played getting louder and louder. The colours still changed in the sky. The sky soon changed to crimson. Red roses burst into the concrete, shattering like glass.
The sky then came burning down. She ran wild down the docks. She looked at her arms and they were glow in the dark. Her twisted smile reappeared on her lips as she started swirling around again. Her body glowed and lit up in the dark. She stumbled and danced all night long. She swam through the colours to the beat of the music. So did all the boys and all the girls. They swam through the mess in the world. The swam through the mess that occurred.
She danced through the highs and the lows. She laughed at the highs, she cried at the lows. Along the docks she traveled all night long. She ran wild and glowed in the dark. They all ran wild and glowed in the dark. Through the highs and lows. They danced through the docks all night long.
In the morning the effects started to run off. The colours started to fade and the highs disappeared to be replaced with lows. The darkness came back, drowning out the sun. And she stopped dancing to the beat of the music. Her heart stopped pounding, her blood stopped flowing and her pulse stopped beating as she sat on the ground. She looked at her hands and they stopped glowing. She looked up and there was Charlie Brown. He smiled at her and nodded. They had an understanding. He was the love of her life and he started fading. Her twisted smile returned as she struggled to pull him out. In her hands sat some more white powder. Her Charlie Brown. He was there with her until the end.
Now she sat slumped at the docks with the lost boys surrounding her. The dancing had ended, the lights had dulled. Charlie Brown had taken her life. He coursed through her veins one last time, with familiarity before it was time to move on.
He was the love of her life.
He was her destiny.
